This is a complete replacement of the factory steel. This modification prevents exposure of the ceramic insulation, which could release ceramic fibers onto your food. It’s 12 gauge 304 stainless; super easy to install; and takes 20-25 minutes. This mod will outlast the grill. It will warp, but not much. The reason to buy this mod versus a one-piece sleeve is that stainless steel warps when introduced to heat much more than mild steel. The 4-piece design allows for each panel to move. Because of this, it warps less. Each panel isn’t against the others. Also, our 4-piece design slides into channels at the top and the bottom of the firebox area. Since it’s held in place on each end, it doesn’t allow warpage as bad as the one-piece design (which can warp and constrict the firebox area and possibly cause bridging of the charcoal).
The kit comes with the 4 pieces of stainless, the 3 wood blocks in the video, and enough gasket (if the factory one tears) to seal the hopper back up.
